An update, due to mention of artist alley at this years event, I'm going to have a chat with Bill and see what his thoughts on bringing the two together are etc etc but we'll see what he says. Just keep those posts coming.

Well hey hey hey


Been a little while since we had an update here but we're now having a roll call for interest in working the artist booth at Auckland Armageddon coming up October, labour weekend, and discussions about how the stall should be organised from now on.

First of all I've been talking to a few people, and we've come to the conclusion that we need a re branding of our stall, since 1) we aren't working for deviant art 2) I know I feel the whole thing needs a bit of a uplift.

Heres where you, my fellow deviants, come in. I need ideas, any kind of ideas you can think of to represent a buncha artists working at NZ conventions such as Armageddon, which will also be kinda like a social group trying to reach out to other NZ artists. So far came up with the idea of Con artists, and give it a bit of a prison/(con theme) in order to put some cheese into it and make it a bit more fun, but I wanna see what anyone else can think of too.

Also, unless all else fails, It'll no longer be a first come , first serve selection process on who works the stall, as much as all the people I work with are awesome, opinion has it that we need to mix things up a little, so if we have the same old thing all time it gets a little old. There will be space for 6 people, including myself. (If I even make it)

I want anyone who's really interested in working the stall to reply to this message linking to their three favorite peices in their galleries, be it what they feel has the most artistic merit, the most views, or just personal favorite. There'll be space for all kinds of art, so anyone who doesn't feel as good at drawing or painting etc as anyone else, don't worry, I want to include some newer artists for the fact that I want to give them a shot and encourage up and coming new talent to strive for what they want. I'll also be on the look out for some awesome artists we haven't had work the stall yet. Anyone who feels we should do things a different way, please feel free to note me with your ideas, this is kinda the least biased yet pickiest way I could think of selecting people, if you can think of something better let me know asap.

I'd say we should have decided whos working by around the 16th of August, but this date can be altered of course given people may have to drop out/work shifts etc. I'm also looking for someone to help organize the event this time around.


As for artists who want in on the action but can't attend. I'm going to allow 2 or 3 people to submit art they would like to be sold at the stall, however it'll be under the condition that you ensure you send them well before the event, give me an adequate pricing guide, and agree to the cost set out by the Armageddon event organiser, and because our space is always limited, not too many different peices and nothing overly large( a3 maximum). If you are interested in this, please note me and we'll discuss it further.

I was thinking it would be a good idea to get little fliers printed this year as well, once we've decided whos working we'll work that part out and set out some kinda cost for it, If they are black and white, I can do them fairly cheaply at Uni.

Now finally

work hard guys, its about time we put together something bigger and better than previous years, but of course, we still wanna have fun doing it.
